From the hotel it is a 10-minute walk to the start point for Hillesøytoppen hike. We recommend to go up along taubanen (a rope) and down at the southern side with view to Senja.
Turn right at the Nordveien / Sørveien intersection and head up the road by the red community center house. From there, the incline to the top is fairly steep, but the rope offers great assistance, leading to spectacular views. On the way down, you can head south toward Senja and end up at the end of Sørveien, or you can follow the path toward Sandvika for a sea swim. The path is well-marked but somewhat steep, so the smallest children might need some assistance. This route is also wonderful for a night tour during the midnight sun season.
