We would love to host you and your guests on your big day! Sommarøy Arctic Hotel offers our guests professional service from start to end. Celebrating the biggest day of your life by the waterfront on Sommarøy provides a great setting for your event. If the weather is good, it is even possible to have the ceremony at the beach – like the picture below shows.
Available dates can be seen in the calendar at the bottom, we recommend to book as early as possible, one to three years before your wedding if you want a wedding during the high season.

Here, all your guests are gathered at the same place, and we are doing our best for you to have a pleasant stay. The nature and surroundings contribute greatly and in summer it is easy to forget what is night and what is day.
The big day
After a big and delicious breakfast buffet together with your guests, it is time for the ceremony.
Hillesøy church is located in Brensholmen, approx. 10 minutes’ drive from the hotel. Hillesøy church is a part of the state church and if you want the ceremony here you can contact kirkekontoret i Tromsø.
Sommarøy Baptist church is located in Sommarøy, approx. 3 minutes’ drive from the hotel. For ceremony here you can contact Oddmund Bakkevoll on phone. +47 957 63 514.
Outdoor ceremony has been quite popular over the years. The hotel beach or the pier outside the wedding venue is areas that are commonly used for this. The areas are free to use, but all the practical things needs to be fixed by you, priest/judge, sound/music and chairs.
After a beautiful ceremony it’s nice to enjoy some food and drinks while the guests are wanting for the bridal couple. Wraps and perhaps a glass of rosé on the pier makes the wait worth every minute. The bridal couple can then with good conscience enjoy their first hours as newlyweds together with the photographer.
The bridal couple arrives aperitif is served, and a tasty fruit platter is ready. Here the bridal couple will have time for some mingling and gratulations before the dinner.
We serve a 3-course banquet menu – 4 different menus to choose from, that you can put together as you wish.
The bar is open until 03:00 It is not allowed to bring your own drinks in our venues, only in hotel rooms or cabins. Some food after the party is a common request, and after a sweet cake buffet it is excellent with something salty. Can be served until 02:00.

Sommarøy is an active fishing community one hour away from Tromsø Airport, known as the Caribbean of Northern Norway.
Nice to know
Venues All our venues are equipped with sound, lights and projector for images / video. This makes it possible to connect your own playlists for dance or background music. We have microphones that can be used for speeches, if needed.
Gifts When the party is over, we will lock the venue so that your gifts are safe in the venue overnight. This way the bridal couple doesn’t need to take the gifts to their room in the middle of the night.
Lights/napkins The wedding package includes candles and napkins – the hotel has white and black napkins. If you wish for other colors, it is okay, but you will need to bring them yourself. We have some vases and candle holders that you are free to use as you wish. You can also bring this yourself if you want to.
Decorating the venue We will fix the tables, add the tablecloths and set the tables with cutlery and glasses. After this you are welcome to decorate further as you desire. If you by some reasons aren’t able to fix the decorations it is possible for the hotel to help. Cakes and flowers are commonly delivered by the guests at the hotel on Friday, the hotel have fridges where this can be stored. The leftover cakes go back to the fridge when the party is over.
Leftover cake “party” It is quite common to gather after breakfast, before departure for a leftover “party” where the guests help you eat what’s left of the cakes. The price is NOK 1500,- included coffee and venue.
Tour of the hotel / dinner tasting A tour of the hotel, accommodation and other can be arranged with the hotel. It’s a good idea to have this tour on the same day as a menu tasting. The price for menu tasting is NOK 500,- per person, and you can choose two of the four menus to taste. We also have one joint tasting every year in March / April where we gather most of the wedding couples for a tasting of all four menus. The price for this is NOK 750,- per person. We also offer cheaper rooms when you are visiting for a tasting.
Accommodation
Standard and superior hotel rooms, suites, apartments, rorbu and sea houses. All prices are included breakfast and is per room / cabin, per night.

The day before the wedding it is normal with a get together where the guests meet for a nice social event in a more in formal setting.

BBQ at the hotel beach
You can rent a grill from us for NOK 1000,- included barbecue charcoal. You will then fix food and drinks for yourself. It is allowed with your own food and drinks at the beach.

Massimago
"Our own" vineyard Massimago
At Sommarøy we are proud of our own import of wine from Italy. The collaboration with Massimago started in 2016, when we started development of the new hotel and at the same time became an independent, chain free hotel. We were looking for our own wine, which was unique to us. We visited several small and large vineyards, but Massimago in the mountains above Verona clearly stood out in the crowd. The authenticity, the atmosphere at the vineyard and the high quality made us decide to cooperate with this beautiful high quality farm. Massimago only produces 50-60,000 bottles a year and and our small hotel buys 10% of this. All the wines from the farm are organic and produced “by hand”.
