Two roads to Sommarøy
Whether you’re driving yourself or go by taxi, there are two scenic routes to Sommarøy. Why not take the Kattfjordeidet (FV 862) on your way to our paradise and return via the coastal road Brensholmen–Straumsbukta–Tromsø (FV 7764)? This way, you’ll experience the best of both routes, enjoying the stunning Sør-Kvaløya drive while also visiting Sommarøy.
Public transport by bus

If you’re traveling on a budget, aiming for a more sustainable journey, or simply looking to save some money, we recommend using the public bus where possible. However, please note that since our hotel is located on the outer coast of Tromsø, the bus schedule can be somewhat limited.

If going directly from airport to Sommarøy, there is no need go to the city center. Buses passing Tromsø airport 10 min. after departure from city center. Bus stop is located 100 meters from the airport building.

From Downtown Tromsø (via Tromsø Airport) to Sommarøy Arctic Hotel
We offer convenient shuttle transportation between downtown Tromsø, Tromsø Airport, and Sommarøy Arctic Hotel. This transportation is booked in the same process as when you book your hotel room at our webpage. This transfer has to be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
To book a transfer if booked through booking.com or other external channels, we recommend visiting book.sommaroy.no and selecting “Activities”.
If you’ve already made your room reservation through our website, you can modify your existing booking to include a transfer.
For reservations made within 48 hours of arrival, please email us directly, as online booking will no longer be available.
Please note that shuttle reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. For bookings made later, availability may be possible upon request but cannot be guaranteed.
The price is NOK 750 per person, per trip. The pick-up/drop-off point in downtown Tromsø is located just outside Scandic Ishavshotel.

If you’re uncomfortable driving on winter roads or if the public bus and shuttle schedules don’t fit your plans, we suggest booking a taxi. By using the app Taxifix, you can book a ride with a fixed maximum price, ensuring no surprises at the end of your trip. You can also use the app in advance to check the estimated fare for your preferred time and date. Price in weekends and nights can significantly higher than daytime. Please add about kr. 600,- nok the opposite direction Sommarøy – Tromsø (pickup rate).
