Sommarøy Arctic Hotel Tromsø is a one hour (55 km) magnificent drive from Tromsø city center. Fjords, mountain passes and small villages is along the beautiful journey towards the most western village of Tromsø municipality, Sommarøy.

Sommarøy nicknamed The Arctic Caribbean have gentle temperatures for outdoor activities. Hiking and sea kayaking are among the best in Norway.
Summer

Sommarøy is just the right size for a leisurely two-hour walk around the island. It offers breathtaking views at every turn! The island is connected to Kvaløya by the iconic Sommarøy Bridge. Here, at the edge of the world, you'll discover a thriving, authentic fishing village— this is the real Arctic Norway, not Disneyland.
Hey, we also have winters

Sommarøy is far away from central. One hotel, a camping and and grocery store. Nature like you’ll never seen before. White Arctic snow clad beaches. Far away from the cities, with low light pollution. Perfect to watch the Northern lights in the sky and with a bonus like nowhere else: the reflections of the lights dancing in the sea. Fall in love again with Mother Nature.

While this is a quote from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, this also applies on Sommarøy, but with a slightly different meaning. From 22nd November to 18th January there is no sun at all. Polar nights is when the sun is below horizon throughout the day. This gives fantastic colors in the sky, sea and nature and is a photographers dream with twilight for hours.
